Cecilia’s Children Kenya
Cecilia’s Children gives hope to children and families who are living in extreme poverty, in Kisumu, Kenya. Many of the children we work with have been orphaned and/or affected by HIV/AIDs.
During the first stage of development an administration block was built so that social workers could begin to assess the needs of local children. An accommodation block, toilets, showers, plumbing and electricity have also been completed. At present we are using part of the accommodation block as a classroom for the first year of intake at the school, until the rest of the site is ready to use. Before we can enter the next stage of development we need to raise further funding!
Once complete the centre will have an onsite rescue centre with accommodation for children who are living in vulnerable situations and will run educational classes for children of primary school age. We also hope to open a community library which will run adult education programs in future.
